temperature intolerance

I know that intolerance to heat or cold can be connected to Ad. For yrs I have had nightsweats. Wake up and suddenly am so hot and them start sweating. This is worse in cold weather. Last night I actually stepped out into 20 degree temps and actually poured more sweat. I finally laid down then was hot then freezing cold. I have had hormones checked. Had hysterectomy 17 yrs ago. Hormones r ok. Thought maybe it was my ms and now maybe the AD.
I drive my dh crazy as one min I may be burning up and the next I am so cold I am shivering. When i am hot my skins hot when cold skins like ice. My drs just look at me when I tell them and blow it off. When I.get hot my heart races and I am dizzy usually. As I said this has gone on for yrs. It's hard to.sleep well. Does anyone else have this.type of thing and if so do u have any tips on how to live better with it?

I am glad he doesn't have them constantly. I can relate to standing out in dead of.winter to cool down or.with a heatpad in summer to get warm. It's crazy.

They are rare for him.  The temperature dropping was something new altogether.  He used to get hot frequently, but I had never noticed temperature changes before.  He would go outside in the dead of winter in shorts trying to cool down.  Those episodes have been gone for about a year now.

I hope your son is.feeling better. It's terrible when u should be cold and.ur burning up. I am either way too hot or freezing cold and.shivering. There seems to be no sense to it. I carry a jacket with me as will become cold for no reason. I will no more than put it on and I am jerking it off as am too hot. At home I heat a ricebag and use it to warm myself then am eating ice to cool down.. I am sure people think I am completely nuts.
Does your son have these often or just occasionally?

My son has also been told his thermastat is off.  He was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago for his temperature dropping to 93 and was very cold to touch.  But,  he complained of being to hot.  It was bizarre.  He should have been shivering but thought he was to hot.

He used to have 'hot spells' a lot, but they stopped a year ago when he started taking doxepin.  I don't know if it is a coincidence or not because I can't find any info on doxepin helping with temperature regulation.

Jane- Guess I am not alone in this then. It's miserable isn't it? It seems so.odd to me that my nightsweats especially seem to get worse in cold weather. The closest I got to any response from a Dr.was once my neurologist told me my thermastats broke when I mentioned it to him.

I have hot flashes that I swear will set my skin on fire and come from nowhere. My skin too becomes hot to the touch. Then at other times I will be freezing cold and find it almost impossible to warm up. It can drive a person crazy. One doctor asks if I have hot flashes and I tell him yes.......he writes it down and then ignores the fact.
