Any clue what is wrong with me?

About 6 weeks ago I developed a sore throat and was very weak.  I was very concerned over HIV and got tested a few weeks later but not until after a ton of stress.  My test was negative and I will be doing my follow up soon.  At the time I had some chils and sweats at night but never officially took temperature.  Right after HIV test (a few hours) my throat swelled up and had tons of white exude.  Really freaked me out.  Went to minor emergency clinic and tested positive for strep.  Was given a 10 day round of Amoxil.  No temperature at the clinic or since then, not sure about before.  Now my throat still has ulcers all over my tonsills and I see the white exude at the back of my throat at times.  The area all around and behind the uvula is red and ulcerated and has been that way for over 6 weeks now.  I can even see the problems in my esophagus.  I was given a penicillin shot as well when things didn't improve and I am having a bacteria infection and am taking Nystatin.  I had diarhea issues and food that wasn't even digesting.  No pain swallowing and the occasional lymph node swellling in my neck.  I also was taking some Prilosec due to acid reflux.

Someone please help me here.  My doc saw my throat recently and laughed it off saying I am getting over strep even though I tested negative for strep flu and mono.  (And thankfully HIV at 6.5 weeks)  This has easily been the weirdest thing I have ever had and I am usually a healthy although neurotic guy.

I apologize for my previous comment, as I missed the part that you tested negative for strep.  Another possibility is that you have a mycoplasma, which requires special tests that usually aren't available to most doctors.  www.drmirkin.com/morehealth/g144.htm

Well my throat issue is still there.  I am so confused as to why.  I still fear HIV and even though I am past 90 days since the last encounter with that girl that has put me into a mental tailspin, I am waiting til I am off next week so if I have an issue I can deal with it.  The clinic who took my sample screwed up when they ordered the test and asked for a western blot in error.  Testing center gave them a negative over the phone when clinic tried to cancel test and they retested as Elisa with I believe the second sample I gave the clinic.  The girl afterwards told me a few scary things then when I said I wasn't feeling well I never heard a peep from her again.

So anyway, I at least hope yours went well.  My docs have no clue what is going on with me and I think even they are starting to question if I have it or not.  One even said if you have it then you have it and they will probably have a cure in your lifetime.

Meanwhile I have had this throat problem and yeast related issues for 2.5 months.  I am seeing my dentist tomorrow and maybe he has ideas.  Did you get any better or get some resolution?

Just a tough strain of strep.  When your doctor stops laughing it off, THEN you have to worry.  Stick with your doc, all the other stuff is side effects.
