Black specks on my tonsils that smear to my tongue

One morning I woke to find that my tongue was smeared in black.  It has occured several times now even threw the day, my mother looked in my throat and noticed I had black specks on my tonsils. I have no pain but in the area. But now my stools are black also.  I have had alot of pain, camping and some diareah, so i've taken pepto bismal for it, that may explain the black stools, but what about my tongue and tonsil?

Pepto bismal caused my mouth to become black, as well.  It was disconcerting, to say the least and not a well-known side effect.

Thanks for your concern.  The first thing i did was call my dentist and no one had ever heard of such a situation.
My doctor wasnt sure either but thought maybe i was having acid reflux at night and the specks may have been coming up with it. I don't know. The problem though also happened during the day.

This may sound strange - but you probably should see your dentist.  It might be caused by periodontal disease.
