Difficulty swallowing and ear pain on one side only.

FWK
Hi Guys,

I have a swollen tonsil on the inside of my throat, left side only and ear pain (not pressure), more hollow pain on the left side as well. I can't swallow easily, even fluids, takes a lot and my throat tonsils plus the part in the middle seem to be like one connected branch at the moement, with the left tonsil taking more than 50% of the space.
I do suffer from sinuses, but no phlegm or usual fullness, no fever, no sore throat, no teeth problem, but I had enlarged tonsils for a week before they went down and this started after.

I was put on antibiotics (Phenoxymethylpenicillin) yesteday for 10 days, still not much improvement. DR said will take effect in 48 hrs. Problem is that I don't eat much and sleep depraved coz of ear pain.

Do you guys have any advice on what this is? Do you think antibiotics will work?
Can I take paracetamol with the antibiotics to ease pain?

Thansk and Regards,
FWK

Hi,

Well in that way I will become alcoholic...lol

Anyways I tested negative for strep..again, I went to Jordan and my ENT specialist ut me on 3g penecillin a day before and got two IV injections (Decadron 8mg and Megion 2g) and also a cap of Diflucan 150mg. He although instructed me that I have to remove my tonsils, as it is better...I have no pain now as I am on the penecillin still but I know they will come back once I stop.....

Do you know if WBC will be high with all these symtopms? I might ask my GP to do CBC once I finish meds.

Thanks and Regards,
FWK

I promise you, I'm not just being a wiseass. I have similar symptoms as you do and nothing works. I think we just have to suffer these things. But one thing I've noticed that does make things better is alcohol. Seriously, try drinking two beers (Especially DRAFT beer), and guage your body's response the following day. When I drink, my voice is stronger the next day and my head feels much clearer. Sorry I am not much help beyond that.
