Dizzy & Headaches

I am a 28 yo Male ,

Exactly 40 days ago,I was in ER for Cold but a killer one,They named it upper&lower resp. infections and gave me Levaquine and De-Chlor hcliquid so they did not help that much and gave me nothing but halucinations so 3 days later (worst days of my life i`d say) i went to a family practitioner with still the same complaints plus dizziness this time , i was not able to breath at all , couldn`t hear anything etc. it was a disaster ,  and he put me on ; Methylprednisolone - Meclizine for Vertigo - Biaxin 500 - Proventil - Nasonex  and Mucinex , these fixed i would say everything , i felt so good after 6 days and everything had gone but still light headed , so i continued this way he told me to keep taking Meclizine for it so it would bring my equlibrity back i was told.I kept taking it but no changes so i came back to FL and met my Family doctor , he gives motion sickness Transoderm Patches and Guaifenex 600/120s..and i continued on these for a week straight no changes and the 7th day at work i vomitted 3 times due to being dizzy and went to ER could not wait anymore.they did CT immediately schedule MRI everything came out clear except he found Left Maxillary Sinusitis and named that as my sickness..Today is day 4 after the ER and honestly i am just a little light headed no more spinning grounds, but heavy headaches which goes away immediately after i take excedrin sinus.I know it will go away..by the way ER gave me Amoxcicilin and Sudafed also so i`m on those this week..This is week 5 since my sickness
I met an ENT specialist he scored 95 and an 80 on my ears said he can`t say anything unless he sees the MRIs and i am seriously tired of going to 5 different doctors and all this medication, in general i am a healthy boy,i served in a famous known european military force for 4 years was well disciplined and everything in there self trained for health issues but the year 2007 was the worst year in my life for my health..it is just so hard for me to describe to someone,No one understands me but my Mother..I need help , I know you are not here to read my life problems or whatsoever but I so want to know what was this dizziness.and What caused it ? i do not believe Sinus was the fact like 3 other doctors said.I do not believe it...
I appreciate any other persons comments aswell.

Thank you and Hope every patient on earth gets better.

MRI is better for looking at the soft tissue, I believe. (Remember I'm not a medical professional, though.)

For people with dizziness or hearing problems, MRI would be used to rule out things such as a benign tumor of the inner ear (acoustic neuroma) and multiple sclerosis.

I think that CT would more likely be used to look at bone structures and maybe sinuses.

Hope this helps.

I am not an expert, but some other causes of dizziness are vestibular neuritis (inflammation of the balance nerve that runs from the brain to the ear), which theoretically can be caused by a respiratory virus; and migraine-associated vertigo.

If you have an ENT specialist, hopefully it is a neuro-otologist, who are the top specialists for dizziness. He will indeed want to see your MRIs to rule out things such as brain tumor (highly unlikely, but they always have to have that base covered).

Vestibular suppressants such as meclizine can actually hinder recovery from a vestibular injury in the long term. They are good for severe symptoms, but your brain needs to compensate for the injury by finding "ways around" it, and the best way to do this is to stay active and avoid suppressing the vestibular system with medications or inactivity. If you don't get better in a matter of weeks or months, your ENT specialist might refer you for vestibular therapy if appropriate.

If you're not seeing a neuro-otologist, you can find a list of these specialists at the Web site of the American Neurotology Society, and also see the Vestibular Disorders Association site.

Best of luck!
