Docs don't know what it is, I'm being tortured on a daily basis

I have been now to a very experienced ent doc who has been in the practice for 60 years and never ever saw anything what I have. He asked me various questions and looked thoroughly in my throat and couldn't see anything his final ruling was anxiety-stress related. Yes i'm on a lot of stress but still skeptical.

I had this problem now since late february. I always have a feeling like something is sticking in my throat like mucuous but in no way it's not, and it causes me to repetitely swallow to clear it which is very annoying. Before it used to last a few weeks, then pass and each time it came back it was milder and milder and then gone, and for about 3 months it was completely gone. But now it came back about 2 months ago with no break and on top of it a new symptom where I feel as if the uvula is being irritated by my tongue and it always causes me to kinda gag my uvula out to fix it. The only thing I found that relieves this problem, is eating especially something juicy like hot dogs, steak, french fries with ketchup etc. But drinking anything aggravates it a bit. I also have some chronic cryptic tonsilitis but the doc said that is nothing related to what you have.

My ent doc gave me some medicine that increases saliva in your mouth, the name is potassium iodine but no pharmacy has it. Now he wants to give me another medicine that will dry out my mouth and stop swallowing (no I will still be able to eat and everything will be fine).  What the hell do I have, please help me, this problem feels like a torture.

And my other symptoms is that I have a feeling that my uvula is being irritated by my tongue, and to clear that I kinda always have to hack it out to sort it out, that is way worse then that swallowing thing.

I just described my problem the best I can. And yes that swallowing thing may very well be anxiety related, but that thing with the uvula makes the whole thing skeptical.

I myself am suffering from a terrible case of candida due to intrevenous antibiotics powerful doses for a staff infection.. and wow i have candida now so bad its unreal. But anyways.. the stuff in the nasals and back of the throat and can also go to the ears is.. infact candida.. since doctors arent aware of candida because its just a symtom from use of anitbiotics they wont diagnose it but instead you are just a guinea pig for more money... This is the cure I use and it absolutely works with .. candida clogging the the ears the nasals and throat all the way to the voice box... 1 tablespoon of cayenne  pepper/with real salt not store bought... in a warm glass of water.. gargle and swallow a little.. will clear all sinuses kills bacteria and unclogs the ears it is the most wonderful thing ever and yes it is hot and it does burn but its killing the germs and the candida and immediately unclogged nasals and ears and i swallow a little to clear the throat.. also... cayenne pepper heals the heart... study cayenne pepper.. I am working hard to fight candida and this has helped with symtoms alot that bother me..  sincerely a friend.

Can you use chilli pepper or pepper or something besides cayenne pepper?

Ps. I wanted to mention, that milk can cause these type of allergies.. like you getting rid of it for a day and it comes right back.. Well a milk allergie can cause it as well and milk    is in everything... try not drinking milk for a couple of weeks.. see if this works.. but the cayenne pepper is awesome.. also cures strep throat and all kinds of viruses in the throat.... clears in 5 minutes after gargleing and drink water after.. the hotter the cayenne the more powerful it works... I have been doing this myself and cured an infection in the draining of my ears and clears mucous immediately... the uvala is probably sore from coughing and irritation. swallowing alot... and the mucous grabbing it cause it is thick and sticky the cayenne will heal that up too.. cold water helps for any swelling.. and also if you dehydrated that can cause phlegm in itself... most asthma and people with phlegm are totally dehydrated...

so the remedy is.... drink 8 glasses of water everyday... NO MILK....cayenne pepper/real salt gargle night before you go to bed.   cold water for swelling.

I know this works.. HOPE it helps someone..
sincerely a friend.

I know the feeling. I have that problem since 2001. The mucus clings to the back of the throat. To get rid of it, I make a tongue motion to pull it out and swallow it; if I don

I'm having the same problems as you.  Dry mouth, can't swallow.  This started out of the blue 3 weeks ago.  Also had my gall bladder removed 2 weeks ago; had an endoscopy (found nothing) but still having dry mouth/swallowing problems.

Doc also said it was stress related and wants me to take lexapro.  Won't take it b/c I'm not stressed out about this.  No one has a clue.  Going to visit a ear/nose/throat doc later this week.

My advice is to research your butt off & ask doctors to run the lab tests to start testing for symptoms you're having...
I just found this really quick, worth reading...

I think that maybe you need to get a second opinion! Just because a doctor has been practicing for 60 years doesn't mean jack! Me, personally, would seek a second opinion. Are you having pain at all or is it just annoying? Is there any coughing? I defefinetly would not take any medicine for this if you are still undiagnosed! Especially anything that drys your mouth out. Please seek another doctors opinion!

Nope no coughing, I too want to see another ENT, and yes I too didn't want to take no medicine or anything, so that's why I'm here.

It's hard to say what's going on but I'm not in favor of drying
the mouth but something to 'thin mucus'. The mucus stimulaion
comes from a multi-system. Mainly the Parotid Gland in front of ears msgs to produce & then sinus start up to empty. There are
hair-like fibers that do a 'ciliary sweep' to make sure fresh
pushes out dwn throat, & new keeps tissue moist. Maxillary
replaces ea 30 min & may be thickening/bogging up. Drying mouth
causes tooth problems/bacteria/tongue fungus/bad breath. More
fluids like equal parts water to gatorade/avoid soda's/tea/
juices w/ less acid helps. The potassium is tricky if he's not
going to be reg-monitor w/ labs. Too much can cause affect on other parts of body. Sometimes extra pillow will change path to
drain better at night. Doesn't hurt to ask, but often Dr's forget that lo-dose Xanax (anxiety rx) is also a smooth muscle
relaxant & allows better flow. Ask for a trial to take at bed &
go from there? Avoid listerine or hi-alcohol mouthwash. a gd
one is Biotene. May ask Dr if you throat has signs of apnea.
The problem is affecting your Z's & actually can make worse.
You need to try to restore natural & slow the sweep to become
thin. If you're pretty healthy, MUCINEX is sold OTC & is a
great mucus thinner. Recommended for brochial phlegm but also
will thin nasal poblems. The actve ingredient shouldn't be
mixed w/ BP meds & some others. Ask Dr abt that? It works well
during flu season. Gd-luck.

I think you should listen to your Dr & don't ask anymore to post
to you. I wasted my time & you obviously trust your doc enough
to say so. Many top ENT's can't tell the difference between
mucus/phlegm/heavy saliva. They all mix together. Gd-luck.

you definitely didn't waste your time! You may just misunderstood me, and I don't blame you since it is difficult to describe what I have. It's kinda like a throat clearing and swallowing thing I have to do simultaneously to clear that problem constantly.

It's not mucous what I have, it kinda feels like it but it's not. I know what mucous is I would be able to cough it or spit it but my only way to relieve it is to constantly swallow it down. And as for the medication to dry out...he just wants to try it for about a week or 2 and see what's up.

@ GNC - ask specialist for "INFLAMAREST" - great for inflammation.  Make sure you are not allergic to herbs.  Always ask specialist before using any prescription.

Sorry,, this is for Candida sufferers..

as you know absolutely no sugar.. raw foods and fresh meat only, the fastest way is fasting. with just water. 5 days if you can do it.. I cant.
products that help.. is Grapefruit Seed extract. helps tremendously, also Acidophilus. Get a vegetarian probiotic. Pau de arco Tea. and so so much more.. Just research. and dont give up.. Never take antibiotics again if you can.. if you do.. take a probiotic simotaneously to never get this problem... You not have to go through what so many of us go through its a horrible thing to have..
take care all.. a friend.

I just read from another med site someone who had the same problem as us for 9 years. He has seen many different specialists and was treated for sinus, GERD, allergies, nerves and nothing helped. He found out that he had Candida albican of the eosophagus. Often pregnant woman get that phlegm around the third month and they cannot get rid of it.

In my case,it started off after taking antibiotics for a flu and a bad odour and taste in my mouth. After I was rid of that, I was left with constant mucus. I also took some medication to get rid of the candida (years later) but it did not help either; it seems to be chronic now and I was told that a candida always comes back.

Good luck.

Well here's what's up and I been researching a lot and nothing I did found similar things but nothing what I have. And NOTHING about having a sensation that the uvuala is too long or irritated and it's not. Well my ENT gave me Donnatol and said it should stop spasms and dry you out and most likely will literally stop your symptoms. I knew dryness would be bad but I gave it a shot. Just like I thought the medication was very bad and made it worse. So I threw it out and now he once to do 3x a day for a few days 5mg prednisone but I passed. Why the hell would I do that, if there is no inflammation? He just said it's stress, since he ran a barium X-Ray too besides thouroughly scooping my throat and nothing!!

Mate you can feel the dangling thing at the back of your throat touching the back of the throat. It just feels like something you need to swallow but you can't. I get it but don't let it bother me tbh.

I get the sensation of needing to swallow something that's stuck at the back of my tongue. In my case it's that thing that dangles down at the throat. It's swollen sometimes or I become sensitive to feeling it touche the back of my throat? This sounds like the same thing that you have.
