Yes, I have horrible Right ear pain & ear looks normal. I have unexplained moderate hearing loss in Rt ear after a string of sinus infections. Saw 5 ENT specialists. Each time I tell them I have pain, they try to pass it off as pressure from a dysfunctional eustachian tube, not pain. I keep saying it's pain, not pressure. I've gotten several different DX's from each ENT (including "retracted ear drum", which worked itself out & now looks "normal" to everyone else). It's been a nightmare. The 4th ENT (EAR surgeon)says "otosclerosis" because my "ear looks normal". Hearing tests shows it's middle ear problem. He slapped a pamphlet in my hand & recommended a stapedectomy. 2 of the ENT's doubted otosclerosis, but can't say until they go in and do surgery and explore. They say that otosclerosis doesn't come with pain.
I see a 6th ENT specialist (another EAR surgeon) on 5/7 & will demand a CT of my ear & possibly of my throat. I do have a pain in my throat that radiates to ear (or visa versa). I just had sinus surgery on 4/19 as 1 step. Now trying to figure out this ear pain/hearing loss thing BEFORE I have anyone do surgery. To you, I say see another ENT that specializes specifically in the EAR AND get a CT scan.        I have some crazy stories that lead me to the 5 ENT and things would have been worse had I not sought the opinion or another, and another, and so on.  :-) Good luck! Oh...see my blog at soundofsharon.blogspot.com if you want more of my story and future updates on my progress.
