Ear Infection

I had a really bad pain in my ear yesterday, so I went to see a doctor, and he put me on antibiotics for an ear infection. Just recently, I was laying down and felt a drainage of some sort in the ear, and I carefully put a cotton swab to the edge of my ear to clean it, and found a bit of blood. When I went to check again with a fresh cotton swab, there was no more blood. An hour later, and still no trace of blood since then. The pain subsided yesterday and I still am not feeling any pain, but the slight hearing loss remains. Is this little bit of blood a bad thing?
