Ear Rattling

I have a rattle in my ear for quite sometime (> a year) that I thought was caused by ear wax.  Unfortunately the doc couldn't find ear wax Fri or anything else to explain this other than TMJ. The rattles happen typically when I'm in a loud environment (like parties with load conversations) or at movie theaters.  Surprisingly it doesn't seem to happen when I listen to loud music or movies in my basement. I believe my hearing is fine since.

Any ideas out there?
