Fluid filled bubble on inner lower lip

I occasionally get a little "bubble' on the inside of my lower lip.  It is clear and fluid filled.  I seem to get one when I am stressed or my immune system is low.  Only once I got 2 at a time.  They start out small and sometimes get a little bigger.  The bubble or cyst doesn't hurt- but it is bothersome and gets sore when I bite it or try to pop it.  It usually goes away in a day or two- it pops on its own usually, but sometimes it is so bothersome I try to pop it.  Then it leaves a small white bump that eventually goes away.  Eating salty foods seems to aggravate it.  I have done some research- Is it some rare kind of inner mouth herpes? I don't get any bumps on the outside of my mouth- I only get them on the inner lower lip.  Could it be oral warts from HPV?  How do I prevent them?  Can I treat them? Is it bad to pop one myself?  I have been getting them often the past few months since I have been under a lot of stress and not getting a lot of sleep.

This what works for me. I apply salt on it and let it kind of melt then I wipe off the salt and repeat it sometimes bleeds but it is no long bothersome.

it is most like just a severe case of strep throat. this use to happen to me all the time. if it is bad enough they may want to take his tonsils out but that is the worst thing that could happen.

Whenever I get a small lump or two under my lip, they grow a bit over the span of a couple of hours, to the point of being annoying under my lip, but not painful. If I do nothing, they start to decrease size and gradually go away in a matter of another hour or so. I think if you wait a little -- don't pop it, don't lance it, don't freak out -- it may go away on its own, like mine did.

For example, I woke up with two of them under my bottom lip this morning. Told my husband about them at 6am and now it's 9:23am and the lumps are both nearly gone. I don't have these lumps often -- maybe only 5 times in my entire life -- but they always go away without treatment. Just sayin'.

If they last long or are recurring often, I would see a doctor to make sure there isn't something serious going on. But sometimes we react and mess with something when we should just let it alone for a while. The body has an amazing ability to heal itself. Some lumps are the body's way of dealing with a little infection -- a way of expelling it, I think. I'm not a doctor but I'm interested in health and read up on things whenever I have a condition I can't explain. Hope this helps someone.

I was at my obgyn 2 months ago and got a blood test for everything testable! I did not have anything....this morning i woke up and felt something on the inside of my lower lip when i looked at it in the mirror it was a very small little bubble with fluid in it....i looked it up and every where online said the herpes virus burns, tingles and hurts really bad and this didnt hurt at all...so like an idiot i sterilized a needle and popped it, alot of liquid came out of it I then washed my mouth out with scope and put an alcohol swab on it.   Well its freakin 5 hours later and i have little blisters forming not on the inside of my lip but on the outside of my lip....they are now tingling, hurting and burning all over my lip just like all the herpes symptoms! I have been with the same man for 13 years and I am completely appauled when i look in the miiror as well as totally freaked out and terrified......my lips felt funny within 10 minuets of popping the first one i should have called my god damn dr and never popped it.....! They are 4 of them coming to the surface of my lip didnt get a hold of my gyn until 3pm so i cant get an appointment until 3pm tomorrow i dont want to terrify anyone cause i certainly dont want anyone to go threw what im going threw right now thinking in my head if my man has been cheating with when and who if i have a god damn std.....which seems to be the case but just so you know if you see a llttle bubble on the inside of your lip with fluid in it and it dosnt hurt dont pop it like i did call your dr and go immediatly because it is preety obvious that by popping it what ever it is...made it spread really quick really bad

I wanted to let you know what my friends doctor said when I went with them. This person did have herpes and the doc said it can lie dormant in a body for 15 years before it makes a apperance. So if anyone was having sex with another partner 15 years ago they could have exposed you/him at that time. I know they supposidly have a test now that less you know if you are carrying the Herpes Virus. Maybe that will help.
Almost everyone carries the hsv-1 (oral herpes) virus. They do not even test for herpes anymore due to so many have it and that you have to be special tested. If it comes back postive, they will most likely perscribe you to an antiviral (aclyvir) and it will clear up within hours to a few days. Do not sweat it. You can get hsv1 from kissing anyone, often sharing drinks, and what not. Herpes isn't spread through fluids, not to be mistaken, it is a skin to skin virus. There is a terrible stigma with herpes that can only be stopped with education. Many have it (80% that carry the virus do not know that have it, fact check with Projectaccept.org.) You're okay, I promise, just do your research.

I had something similar to this (if it is a mucocele).  I read up on it and learned an easy way to get rid of it....if that is what it is.  Follow these simple steps:

1.)  Get a spoonful of salt...and something to spit in
2.)  Apply all of the salt to the lump/area of concern
3.)  Keep the salt on the mucocele for 15 minutes (I laid down on a bed and had the salt pressed firmly against the mucocele, spitting into a bowl as needed)
4.)  After 15 minutes, rinse the salt out of your mouth

I followed these steps and the mucocele was gone that evening (about 12 hours later).

Hope this works for you all, as well...

I have these, it's a mucocele. Mine started the same week that I was infected with HPV. If you look at my pics you can see mine. I saw an ENT doc today and he agrees that is what it is. No doc has ever been able to tell me there is a link of mine to HPV so don't be scared, I am not suggesting that. I think stress, low immune system issues are factors and for me maybe my HPV too.

My brother had clear fluid filled lumps on the inside of his mouth and around his lips for years that greatly bothered him.  He would drain them, and complain about them.  He saw many doctors and never received a solid diagnosis.  What it turned out to be was mucosal neuromas caused by multiple endocrine neoplasia and a pheochromocytoma that eventually cost him his life.  Please research endocrine issues to make sure this does not apply to you.  It is a rare condition that is OFTEN over looked.  Best of luck to you all.

Ok today I noticed that I too have this bubble looking bump inside my mouth . It is located closer to my lower teeth and bottom lip. This is the first time I saw something like this on myself. So here I am searching for answers. I doesnt hurt, it is just annoying. I don't have HPV or anything. I do have TMJ ( very scary) feels like my jaw is going to break when I yawn. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with, but I know that this bump has to go! If anyone has any answers p;ease let me know.

Thank You in advance.

I tend to bite mine open as soon as that is a possibility. They generally go away afterward. Occasionally, I'll have to do this a couple times before the mucoceles heal. If I'm unable to bite them open, I use a sterilized box cutter. The things you do when you lack insurance.

So, I had this big lump inside my lower lip. Since I usually get blisters because of stress I didn't pay any attention thinking it would go away as it usually is the case. However a few days went by and it became larger. When I saw it in the mirror it looked as if I had a bubble of clear liquid inside my lip. It didn't hurt or anything as much as I played with it or squeezed it. Since I had no pain I didn't think there was anything to worry about. So, because I don't have insurance and I've watched too many episodes of Man vs. Wild, I got my x-acto knife, rubbed it in alcohol, wash my mouth with peroxide and made a small puncture in the bubble. Very painless. I then squeezed all this liquid out. It was gooey, transparent, odorless and flavorless. I made sure to squeeze as much as I could. Took another peroxide wash and the next day the mucous membrane in the mouth was already healed (it actually heals pretty quickly! So, I know this sounds extreme but then again, I have no insurance and I can't afford to walk around with lump like that. Some of you might think I was stupid for doing what I did, but then again I have two brothers who live abroad and who are doctors ;)

I am in my late 30's and have already had 4 kids so I pretty much know my body by now. But recently Ive noticed a change, when my husband and I have sex and I give him oral sex in between orgasms Ive noticed a bitter taste and strange oder (not bad just strange). We work and live together and still never tire of being together, I know that we are both faithful 100% to each other. I have HPV but have had it for over 13 years so I know thats not the problem. I am under allot of stress in my life right now and Ive been gettin those small clear hard bubble like sores in my mouth one at a time. I use the get them offten when I was a kid. But what about the bitter taste on him that comes from being in me? Could it be from a yeast infection? Can stress really cause all that? Or is there more?

no! you are fine! these little blisters look like small bubbles? and can feel like maybe a bee bee is stuck in your gums? all they are is tiny saliva glands that have been blocked. maybe you bit your lip? anything like that can cause them. all they are is little bubbles of saliva. as you said they eventually go away and if they don't you are still fine. do not be concerned.

Thank you so much for your input!  Nobody has gotten back to me.  Please keep me posted on what you find out.  I have HPV so it could be from that.  If you find any way to treat or prevent them- please let me know.  I was having them a lot recently but I haven't had one in a week.  I was very worried.  I really appreciate anything you have to share with me.

Hi, thanks for responding to my coment too.  If it just the inside of your lower lip that you are getting them, it is possible it is a mucocele.  Look them up on the internet - they are really common and nothing to worry about.  I have been seen by my GP and dentist several times and have had blood tests and swabs galore.  I am off later to get my last set of results with a new doctor, I will let you know what they say in case it might help you too.  There is also a condition called stomatitis which is an inflammation in the mucosa of the mouth, sometimes due to infection or virus (herpes), or trauma, or dental problems, and sometimes just because apparently!!  This is what they think I have.  Although I am not a doctor, if yours are anything like mine (single fluid filled tiny white spots/blisters) I am fairly certain it would not be warts.  I will get back to you.

I have a habit of biting my lower lip and as a result I get those water blisters. I just pop them (like the way you pop a zit, squeeze the sides and water comes out) it just leaves a little hole and no pain involved. hopefully yours are just like mine. once in a while - pretty infrequently i get a canker sore on the inside of my mouth; it is a genetic thing all my siblings get either canker sores or cold sores. I have asked doc several times and my inner lower lip water blisters/bubbles/sores whatever you want to call them are from biting my lower inner lip. My dentist agreed, I asked him as well.
