Hi all anyone any ideas ? I have this lump in my neck about 2-3 years behind my jaw bone and under my ear ..I brought to my gp years ago n he said probly a cyst never gave me any trouble ....but now ...I was admitted to hospital a few weeks back in horrific pain in my jaw n felt like this lump was exploding in my neck ...no amount of pain relief would take it away I was practically unconscious from all of it ...anyways pain has subsided but still there ...my jaw is now very very out of line it's completely crooked and face looks deformed almost ...this lump feels like it's growin inside ..I'm feelin alot of neck pain and shoulder pain believe it or not and for about 3 years Iv suffered awful migraine face paralysis n stabbing pains in my face and arms only recently added all up together .also when I lie down at night my breathing is so wheezy n my throat goes like there's somthing leaning on it ...other than that all I'm havin is just like a strained throat but it will go away ..also a lot of heart burn too and my tongue is very bad lookin it's full of grooves of swellin up twice the size n since early December it's had a disgusting coating on it that I cannot get rid of ...I know the two probly aren't connected but I'm lost ...ent urgent app I got for next week so just one week to wait anyone any ideas ?? MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi, it could be enlarged lymph node/nodes. Lymph are protective mechanisms of the body and they 'trap' the infecting source causing enlargement of lymph nodes. The infection can be from the draining skin or the organs. The other causes for enlarged nodes are tumors or inflammations to name a few. The swelling and pain could also be due to mastoiditis, which is infection of the bone behind the ear. This happens when there is a middle ear infection, which spreads to involve the mastoid bone. The coating of the tongue could be due to steroid inhalers if you are using them for the wheeze. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. In the meantime you can use OTC Acetaminophen for relief from pain.   Regards.
