Hard time breathing at night

Every night my lungs hurt when I breathe and I have mucus draining from my nostril area to my throat. My nostrils are also stuffy so it's hard for me to breathe. I can take nyquil and it helps but I would have to take it every night. On the nights I don't take it I have this problem. What can I do?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

The constant runny nose and nasal congestion could be due to vasomotor rhinitis, in which the symptoms occur in response to a trigger, like eating spicy food or going outside in the cold.  The primary treatment is simply avoiding the things that trigger your symptoms. It is often treated with a drying nasal spray (like Atrovent) and antihistamines like chlopheneramine and lovatidine are effective. Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion. Please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

use a good nasal drop like otrivin or saline to lubricate your nostrils thrice a day or even  more times if needed and wenever u feel like that at night or wen u wake from sleep.

Also take phenylephrine along with any of its commercial combinations for 7 days(0-0-1) before going to sleep.

Also do hot water steaming thrice daily for 15 days and whenever u feel like this
