Help for dry irritated nasal passages?

For as long as I can remember I have had sensitive nasal passages. When I would get a cold / flu, whenever I would breathe through my nose I felt like the air was icy cold and would hit the back of my throat/nasal cavity like a sharp cold knife. I'm currently sick and find it very uncomfortable to breathe through my nose because of this same sensation . I don't know how else to explain it, but it makes the back of my nasal cavity extremely irritated , dry and nothing I do brings relief . The closest I've come is using steam but this only brings temporary relief because of the moisture . Tried neti pots and nasal sprays but nothing has worked. Any help or understanding would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
