I have been experiencing pain and discomfort in my throat for 4 weeks. What to do?

The pain shifts from one side of the throat to the other. While one side pains, the other side seems to be completely normal. The pain is near the base of the throat just above the collar bone. The pain is very irregular. Now I have started to feel a little pain in the inner ear as well. No antibiotics, medications or ENT visits have helped so far. The ENT doctor said it was just redness in the throat. I have now begun avoiding acidic foods. However, the pain never leaves.
