Lost the sense of smell

My sister has been recently diagnosed with nasal cancer.  She has lost most of sense of smell and has been told that it will not come back.  She has concerns about not being able to smell gas or fire in the house.  Is there anything available to help identify smells .

My sister is 58 y/o.  She has a tumor in the sinus area.   She is starting chemo and radiation this week.  After 2 biopsies they still have not determined the type of cancer. They hope to shrink the tumor then do surgery.
