Low Dose Gentamicin Injection Procedure

Hello,

I am looking for the low dose Gentamicin Injection procedure. My new doc has the old regime for the high dose, but not the newer low dose procedure also called TTG.

Need to know dosage, head placement, etc.

I had a culture positive for chryseomonas luteola which is also known as pseudomonas and it was sensitive only to gentamicin and other drugs.   So I tried the gentamicin injections at 80mg a day for 16 days, 2 days I took 160 mg along with norfloxacin, tetracycline.  I've switched to flagyl and clarithromycin and took one dose of augmentin.

I think I have hearing damage and my ears were popping.  Did the gentamicin do this to me??  I have bronchitis, should I take prednisolone to protect my hearing?
what is the porbability of hearing loss of any kind from gentamicin?

Back when I was in college this procedure was just starting to take off. We thought is was plumb crazy...

But I have to say, I have met people with smiles on, happy that they did do the procedure. So if it works.....  what can I say?

I don't really know anything about this, but there is a Yahoo groups mailing list called "Meniere's Discussion Group" (MDG) that has a lot of VERY knowledgeable and experienced patients (a lot of them science-oriented) as well as at least one very up-to-date balance-testing expert who posts there. You might consider joining and see what you can learn, or where you can find out the information you want. They don't archive their posts, so you can't do any searches, but if you ask a question, you may get some good advice.

I'm assuming you have Meniere's disease and have severe vertigo from it?  Different people have different dosing, but these days I believe most people are using low dose gentamicin.  I don't know of a standard low dose, but it often is around 20mg/injection.  There's still a small chance of profound hearing loss since Gentamicin is both vestibulo and cochleo toxic.
