Meniere's or hydrops?

Can someone tell me if there is a difference between Meniere's Disease and hydrops?  My ENT ran neuro-audio tests and discovered some fluid in the inner ear.  I'm not sure if they actually diagnosed it as Meniere's or hydrops.  Are they basically the same?  I was prescribed a diuretic for a few months and told to watch the diet (salt and caffeine).

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Meniere Disease is otherwise known as Idiopathic Endolymphatic Hydrops. Meniere’s disease, is a condition in which there is an excess of fluid in the inner ear. The excess fluid disturbs the ear’s balance and hearing mechanisms and causes tinnitus, dizziness and deafness. Medications such as Valium and Compazine are prescribed to decrease the severity of the symptoms. If max medical therapy fails then surgical therapy like labyrinthectomy, vestibular nerve section and endolymphatic sac procedures are done.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
