OTITIS

please help if you can! to make a long story short, I was diagnosed last week with otitis. at the same time I had flegm and cough and a stuffy nose. I am taking antistamine, antibiotic(erithromycin) and nasal spray. I am desperate because I can't hear a thing!!! I only have one ear as I am deaf in the other one, so you can understand my agony. My job is sufferring as well.

how long will it be before I notice any improvement ?

also, a co-worker said I will get otitis now everytime I have a cold. that's pretty scary.

any thoughts pls.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi, Understand your anxiety. In the majority of cases of sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL), no cause is identified and it is considered idiopathic SSNHL. In these patients, high dose oral prednisolone may improve hearing outcome, particularly if started early. As you have been initiated early, you can expect good results. Good luck with your therapy. Regards.
