One sided Deaf

My wife has one sided Deaf from her childhood.

She consulted the doctor 6 years back or even more and the doctor told her that it has been since her childhood and cannot be treated.
So i want to ask you that what is the reason behind.

What precautions should i take care so that i protect her other ear.?

Is there any possibility that her other ear can also have hearing loss.?

what are the chances that she wil get deaf by other ear also.

Hi, what was the reason for the deafness? Single Sided Deafness (SSD) can be very debilitating to the person suffering. There is no cure for permanent Single Sided Deafness (SSD). However, there are treatments available which can restore the sensation of hearing to the deaf side. The treatment is possible irrespective of the length of time a patient has suffered from SSD. There are two main treatment options available for SSD, the BAHA (a bone anchored hearing device) and the CROS aid (Contralateral Routing Of Signal). So, re consult an ENT specialist and discuss these options with him. Regards.
