Persistant Strep Throat

Hi, I was given 7 days of antibiotics on April 6th for strep throat. I had white spots on my tonsils which disappeared after about 4 or 5 days of being on the antibiotics, but then I lost 3 pills in the sink (when opening the bottle) and I got another white spot on the back of my mouth where my tongue meets my tonsils. I am very concerned, however, because my throat (beyond the tonsils) still looks extremely infected and there are craters on my tonsils. I was given another refill of penicillin (7 more days of antibiotics) on Tuesday April 15th but it doesn't seem to be making the craters or the infection on my throat go away.. So basically, today is April 17th and I still have the craters and the back of my throat looks terrible. Is there something else I could have besides strep throat? Thank you so much for your help!

Hiya im in exactly the same boat as yourself. In 5 weeks i have had 2 lots of penicillin & my throat is still killing. Inflamed & tonsils huge. Mine is apparently tonsilits, yet the penicillin doesn't seem to be helping at all.

I would love some advice also x

the penicillin has eliminated the white spots on my tonsils (with the exception of one spot that came back when I had to cut the first set of antibiotics a day short)...however my tonsils are still cratered and the back of my mouth (behind the tonsils) still looks very infected and red.. the penicillin doesnt seem to be working on my tonsils and back of the throat. the top of the back of my tongue is also somewhat sore but there is nothing visually wrong with it. Is it possible that I have something else besides strep throat? please help!! I understand that it could be tonsillitis, but isnt penicillin perscriped to treat it? you would think it would work? or should I expect to wait another few weeks before everything clears up completely.
