Phlegm-like substance stuck to tonsil, aggravating my hyperactive gag reflex

Hi, I just had surgery thursday evening to fix my deviated septum, remove cysts in my sinus cavity, treat my sinus infection, and some rhinoplasty to also increase breathing efficiency.  After the surgery, I noticed something tickling the back of my throat and feeling foreign/odd.  After inspecting it at home with a flashlight, I can tell that some phlegm or clearish looking substance has attached to my tonsil and is aggravating my throat.  I'm very afraid this could turn into a major proble because I have a hyperactive gag reflex.  I can barely even touch it much less get a hold of it.  What should I do?  Should I get some soft tweezers and try to pull that phlegm stuff off of my tonsils?  Do you think it's able to come off easily?  It is not a tonsil stone by the way

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Good to see your are improving. The burning sensation will further improve. Just ensure to eat bland food and also not very hot food. And chew the food well before swallowing. However, if your symptoms worsen or if you develop additional symptoms, consult your doctor.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

It's shrunk down to its original size, so that's good but my throat still burns when I eat some foods, so hopefully that will go away soon too.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

It would be best to not meddle with it. As the post op swelling and inflammation subside, your symptoms should resolve. Continue with your medications and drink warm fluids. If you develop fever or if there is an increase in size of the swelling or if there is discharge, consult your doctor to rule out an infection.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

I'm pretty sure it's a swollen uvula, not phlegm attached to it, so I won't be pulling at it.  Any ways to help it swell down to regular size?
