Possible strep throat or soemthing else...please help!!!!!!!

Well I've had this sore throat for three days now, it started of as a normal small sore throat so I jsut thought it would be gone over night like usual but I woke up the next morning and it didn't hurt, then I swallowed and the pain was unbearable, this was tuesday its now thursday and my right tonsol is swollen with white patches, my left (which I don't normall have) is swollen to a normal size tonsol and it hurts like hell to swallow. I took some cough and sore through honey and meon syryp mixture yesterday and I brought it back up a few hours later, my nan told me its from when I got caught in a lightning and thunder storn and should clear along with the cold I had, which is practically gone. But that was tuesday, and they hurt worse today then they did yestrday. I tried gargling with mouthwash but that made me gag, I was talkign to my boyfriend on the phone yesterday after I had drunk some strawberry milkshake and took two anidin extras and my fever which only started yesterday morning went completely adn my throat felt less painful. Woke up this morning, swallowed and I actually cried becasue the pain is emence. I had to go downstairs at 6 in the morning to take some of those tablets. I think their working becasue my throat is not as bad as it was when i woke up. My right tonsol is swollen pretty bad and I don't know if its just a mild sore throat due to my cold/flu or its strep throat or something else, I'm goign to give it until my boyfriend comes back tomorrow and If I'm still suffereing on sunday when hopefully I can see him I'm goignt o try book and appoinment at the doctors to check it out. .... what does people think?

Hi there. I just got over strep. Mine was extremely painful as well. I had to get antibiotics otherwise the strep can lead to rheumatoid arthritis or infection for the sack around the heart. Definitely get treated. Also what helped in the meantime was cepecol lozenges and throat spray. Not chloroseptic, it's a wimp. Good luck, hope you feel better.

You should definitely see a dr to confirm or rule out strep throat.  Strep throat is a serious infection and requires an antibiotic to get rid of.  If you don't get an antibiotic, the sore throat may go away, but the bacteria can "settle" (attack) a different part of the body causing many different kinds of problems.

Feel bett.
