Question about Ear Drum Perforation

I have a small perforation in my left ear - it's been there for nearly 3 weeks now. I've been to the ENT and had hearing tests etc etc. I am aware it can take a few weeks or up to 2 months to heal. My question isn't about the perforation as such but more about flying. I am supposed to be flying to the US in 2 weeks. I am aware that flying with a perforated ear drum is fine, however I am not clear on whether flying with an ear drum that is just starting to heal is fine or not? All the information tells me to watch out blowing my nose too hard because the pressure could cause the healing ear drum to blow again. Surely the same would apply to air pressure on flight ascent and descent if the ear is just healing? If you pull apart the skin on a wound that has just started knitting back together again you will cause it to open and I view the ear drum as much the same. I am terrified about the flight and considering moving the holiday. I was just in a car and somebody slammed the door and the pressure of that made my ear feel uncomfortable! Hopefully what I am asking makes sense :-)
