Sinus/Ear infection...is this normal?

My goodness. I am experiencing some ridiculous symptoms. What's funny is that I don't have mono. I was actually tested for it a few days ago, supposedly I just have a sinus infection. But I'm dizzy all the time and I really don't feel like myself at all. I don't feel dizzy to the point where I am going to fall down, but just dizzy where I feel disoriented. I also hear cracking when I yawn in both of my ears and my right ear feels like it is clogged. I am also feeling pressure on my face, like something is pushing down on my cheeks, if I press on my cheeks and under my eyes I feel like I  have bruises underneath my skin. Every once in a while I also hear a very high pitch noise in my right ear, but it won't stay for long and barely happens. My nose is also dry I'm going to an ENT specialist on monday, I will keep you updated on my situation. My questions is, does this sound like a normal sinus/ear infection? I have had ear problems ever since I was a little kid, but never this bad. Finals are coming up for college and I have been unable to concentrate at all. I'm on Guaifenex 600-60 tablets. Has anyone here had any similar experiences to this and what helped you during this time?

Oh, I also suffer from severe hypochondria, so I am just seriously scared.

Thanks in advance to anyone that decides to contribute to this thread.

Great. let me know how it gets .I also have good and bad days . try that exersize ball . I can actually feel it pulling on my sinuses when I do it . I can feel this coming on , I told my hubby that it feels like I have a head full of cotton . when I get that feeling I panic ,,I ask myself what's wrong with me . why does this thing act like it's clearing up and then come back ?? But form all that I have read it does appear to be sinus connected ,even though I dont have some of the other side effects .. anyways ,,good luck to us and others that are going thru this and are having stress because of it .

I went to an ENT today got CT scans of my head and a pressure test. Supposedly everything is fine, yet I still feel dizzy kinda. I think I might just have the flu, we'll see how I feel in a week or two. It might also be anxiety because I am so worried, oh well, no idea. We'll see. It has definitely improved in the past few days, but it's still there and worrying me sometimes.

DEADHEAD, you sound a bit like me. I have been having major problems too and I also am paranoid . My problems started out back in November . constanly swallowing all thru the night ,,then one day I had this awful dizzy spell where I felt like I just got off a really fast merry go round ,,It lasted a few hours , I had a plugged up head feeling ,,I started sea salt water nose spray & steam baths gave me some help ..then a month later I had another BAD dizzy spell . I felt like a had alot of pressure on my right ear  there for a few days then suddently gone then back again. I would blow my nose and small amounts of blood and blood clots would appear. I wake up in the middle of the night in a panic and feel all stuffed up . My biggest problem that i have YET is that my right ear still feels alot of pressure and I still have blood clots when I blow . funny thing is that when I have all of this pressure and it lets up the day that I see the blood .not a nose bleed at all just a few clots .. I read articals online with some close connections  and right away if mention anything about cancer and I panic!!!!I guess it's not a good idea to read alot of the stuff.  I actually feel fine otherwise. any suggestions? OH yeah deadhead I use my little exersize ball and bounce on that for like 20 minutes a day and I get HUGE results ! But I still worry about why it never ever really totally goes away :( I soooo paranoid that it's something bad that I wont go to the doctor . I just wish that someone would say .. there is nothing to worry about ,,it's just a sinus problem .because I constantly think about it .

Yea, I'm highly doubtful to having anything very serious, because I'm not dizzy to the point that I can fall over, like yesterday I was at my frat house just raking leaves without any problems, it's just that I can sometimes feel unsteady like I'm on a boat.

Google meniere's disease. It does NOT sound like you have this, but it will give you an idea as to what fluid in the middle ear can do. best of luck.

Thanks guys for the very helpful and interesting input. However, I'm a little worried about the dizziness. Ever since i started feeling dizzy (It's kind of like I'm on a boat), my perception about the world around me is completely different and I have barely any concentration. Hopefully the ENT has more light to shed on this issue. Thanks again! Any more input is definitely welcome.

Definitely a sinus infection. Possibly ear, too. The pressure is simply umbearable. I put a hot washcloth on my face for about 15 minutes four times a day when I have one. You need on an antihistamine/decongestant to dry up the excess fluid in your sinuses, as that in addition to the inflamation from infection is what causes the pain. Sick with you appt and I hope for you a speedy recovery!

Your symptoms sounds very similar to that of a sinus infection.  I had it on various occasions due to allergies.  The tender face (feeling like its bruised), stuffy/runny nose, dizziness (which can sometimes happen due to an inflamed ear or ear infection), and headaches are all typical symptoms in a sinus infection.  I wouldn't be too worried, but you should go to your doctor to get antibiotics.
