I have had the same thing happen to me. I thought it was a spider that got into my mouth when I was a sleep.   I finally got a flashlight and looked down into my throat and saw a white solid stone like substance sticking halfway out of a hole in my tonsil.  Enough to make me gag and try to wretch it up over and over.  I looked it up online and found out it was a tonsil stone.  I had never heard of that at all.  I saw youtube videos showing how people get them out.  I have a sensitive gag reflex so it was not easy.  Most people use a cue tip and push on the side of the stone and pop it out.  There are usually many more underneath that so I pushed more out.  Look it up online.  You are not alone.  This is common but not normal.  Frequent sore throats or immune problems cause it. They even sell kits on amazon to help get them out.  You definitely need a good flashlight.  When it is sticking half way out it feels as if there is something in there moving around.
