Sore Throat After Oral

Hi,
After giving oral to girlfriend for the first time, I came up with a sore throat the following day. I know this isn't STD related since we both were tested and both negative. I went to my PCP who said it was a sinus infection but this sore throat happened the day after oral so I think it's from that. He insists it's not & gave me some medicine for the sinus infection. I have been taking the medicine (Flonase) for a month now but still have a sore throat on and off. He never swabbed my throat either. What could this be? The sore throat is there one day and the next day it's gone. The back of my throat is really red and looks swollen. Could this be a bacterial infection or something from giving oral? Thanks in advance!

Doc thanks for the response! I visited a ENT last week and he took a good examination of the throat with camera. He said it is really red irratated and swollen. He also said a have some minor acid reflux.  He also ordered me a CT scan as well which I went to yesterday. He gave me some pills for my acid reflux, and hopefully they clear everything up & the CT scan doesn't show anything bad. I will keep you posted!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi, your symptoms could be due to sinusitis. It can cause post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. Hence the chronic throat congestion. For this to resolve the sinusitis has to be treated completely. The best way to get to the bottom of your sinus issues is to see an ENT.  A good examination inside the nose with a camera might give the ENT more information as well as a CT scan of the sinuses.  If it is a chronic sinus infection, 4-6 weeks of antibiotics are pretty standard in addition to nasal steroid sprays, oral steroids, and salt water irrigations of the sinuses.  If this fails to solve the problem, sinus surgery is usually recommended. Regards.
