Any help would be so much appreciated. I have an appointment to see my doctor Monday morning. I am a 33 year old female who is relatively healthy, on Lisinopril for high Bp and Effexor X-RAY for depression.
On this past Monday, I took my Effexor with a glass of water as I always do. About 5 minutes later I was talking to my husband in the back yard and I had the sensation of the pill being stuck in my throat. Within a minute I felt like I needed to burp and up came the Effexor half melted. I thought It was a fluke and that was that.
Ever since, I cannot express the uncomfortable feeling. I CONSTANTLY have a feeling like there is something in my throat. I am coughing non stop as a reflex of that feeling. When I thought about it further I realized I had this feeling the day before the pill getting stuck. Effexor is a rather larger pill, and I haven't had trouble taking smaller pills like my Bp med or Motrin. Anyway the feeling of something being in my throat and the coughing to try to clear it is constant. However i am sleeping at night and it's not waking me from sleep. I do wake up in the morning with this still there, but it worsens As the day goes on. Evening/night are the worst.
Today I mentioned it to my pharmacist and he said it sounds like LPR which he said is "silent reflux". He recommended Omeprazole 20mg so I purchased it and have taken one dose so far.
Ten minutes ago I attempted to take my Effexor for the first time since it was stuck. I was scared to take it. Same thing happened, I could feel it stuck and I almost threw it up but didn't. I drank a ton of water and ginger ale since and I am assuming it is melting from the length of time.
So I am looking for some help before I can get into the doctor monday. It is setting off my asthma and causing me to have to use my inhaler often due to the constant cough.
I am sorry for any typos. I am typing this on my phone. Thank you!!
