Yellow Tonsil Fluid

Hello!

I hope somebody can help me.

For the last couple of years, I have had a foul smelling yellow fluid that
I need to drain from the back of my left tonsil. It is not anything like tonsilths
as it is a thick fluid. I have seen a few doctors about it and have had the fluid
tested. There is no infection and they say it is just an excess of lymph fluid.

Can anybody tell me if this is normal as I have never come across anybody with
anything like it.

Your feedback would be appreciated!!!

Irish.

I am having the same problem, I’ve always had TONSIL STONES Brett’s bad in ONE TONSIL (right one)  since 09. Recently (January 2018) my right tonsil just swells terribly bad it’s hard to swallow I get a sharp pain in my ear whenever I do. And that swelling gets so bad it hurt to open my my mouth wide enough to bite a sandwich. This happens ONCE A MONTH. Whenever I go to the E.R. They swab the tonsil and also do a blood test. Strep comes back negative and all they diagnose me with is tonsillitis. They have prescribe pain meds and amoxicillin EVERY VISIT. I take the amoxicillin and the symptoms come back 2 weeks later. But what I noticed on my last visit (July 10, 2018) they give me a shot of steroid (decadron) the swelling goes down almost INSTANTLY in the E.R. And by the time I’m discharged and get home the tonsil starts draining!! That horrible, metallic tasting , yellowing fluid comes from my tonsil and the swelling is gone! I don’t think it’s tonsillitis I just think my tonsil is hypersensitive to germ/infection and maybe my body doesn’t produce enough natural steroid . I go to the EAR NOSE AND THROAT DOC tomorrow hopefully they can give me a better diagnosis/ explanation that matches my symptoms because tonsillitis is not it!

Hi, what was the update from your E. N. T?
I ask because I have the same fluid coming out from the back of my throat but never any swelling or bleeding. However I have had in 3 maybe 4 occasion the stones form and come out. This was 2 yrs ago and one day I was like "oh, I haven't felt that nasty fluid in the back of my throat anymore. Yay it's gone". Now it's back again and I am considering seeing an E. N. T but not of they're going to waste my time. Would highly appreciate hearing what you were told.

That is NOT tonsil stones!  Stones are firmer and come out in chunks.

I have had this exact same thing in my left tonsil for months.  I have also had tonsil stones very occasionally through the years so I know what those are too.

This is a white/yellow thick fluid.  It is not chunky at all.  If I press on my tonsil, it flows out.  It smells and tastes horrible.  I can tell when I need to press my tonsil to get it out because it will start to leak in my throat and makes my mouth taste and smell awful.

Everything search I run on this comes back to tonsiliths but, again, these are not tonsil stones.

I'm currently experiencing the exact same thing. Not tonsil stones but a yellowish fluid released from my right tonsil. Pain is little to mild. No insurance so I haven't been able to get checked out. I don't have any other symptoms and the smell/taste isn't as bad as it seems to be for you. I've had a little blood as well.. please let me know if you find out anything! I'm freaking out. ):

Tony, don't freak out. Nothing is wrong with you at all. That fluid is what turns into tonsil stones, which is just debris. I've had tonsil stones my entire life, since I was very young, and since 2016 I've had that thick fluid coming out of one tonsil. We don't know why the fluid isn't turning into an actual stone, though.
Did any of you get any answers!? I had a sore throat on the right side seven months ago and thought it was an ear infection as it hurt in my ear when I swalllowed and I also had lots of crackling in my ear. However since then I’ve had this horrible discharge coming out of my right tonsil.
It’s a creamy yellow and sometimes greenish. Inwent to see an ent specialist and he’s put a camera down my nose; given me antibiotics twice and a ct scan which came back ok. He says it’s tonsil debris but liquid form. It’s annoying as I feel it build up
And it tastes like cabbage! He says he’ll remove my tonsils if I’m fed up. I just worry there’s something  serious underlying this.

Hi Yeti105,

I don't know if it because of these eustacian tubes. I know its only in one tonsil
and I never have any pain and I very rarely get symptoms so maybe it's actually
helping me, i don't know, but it's certainly disgusting. I may go to a specialist
as opposed to a generalist just to see what he or she thinks.

Where is your "yuck"?? Mine is at the back of my tonsil and it comes out of two pores but I cannot see where it is being secreted from.

I have not had a thick fluid but it was like a lump of yellow foul smelling yuck. I don't know what else to call it, but anyway i told my doc and she said it was yuck from my eustacian tubes, i don't know if i spelled that right, she said i was lucky to be able to clear them. I was thinking how nasty it smelled and tasted, could this be from those tubes on you, they are connected to your ears?
