advice on prescription after septoplasty

Needed second opinion on prolonged usage of
anti-allergic tablets ( cetrizine ) for 3 years
antibiotics for 3 months

This was prescribed to the patient after surgery ‘septoplasty and turbinectomy’

Questions
Is this required to continue for so long?
Will there be any side effects?
What is the use of surgery if patient was to take medication for such a long time?

The surgery, septoplasty and turbinectomy, are used to treat nasal airway obstruction.  Medicines like cetirizine are used to treat nasal allergies.  So if one has both, the surgery itself will not make the allergies go away.  Therefore, medicines like cetirizine may be needed indefinitely if symptoms are bad enough.  Cetirizine is generally very well tolerated.  You can look online for the list of possible side effects.
