bad sore throat for 7 days now, what is it?

I have had a bad sore throat for 7days now and its not going away. day 1 i had body aches, felt hot but no fever and then from day 2 and onward my sore throat was bad. anything i drank, ate would make it hurt/burn even talking made it hurt,what can it be. i went to dr on day 4 he said tonsilis were red take halls, thats it.. but its been 7 days and not going away. feels the same as day 1. what can it be helP?

no they didnt cuz dr said it was nothing, but day 9 today and although im getting better , the right side of my throat still feels sore at times its on and off now...
