coughing up blood

For years I have occationally coughed up a ball of bloody phlegm. I don't know why. It scares me a little more each time I do it. Now it is more frequent, about twice a week. Could you give me some reasons for this. Thank you!

Have you been to a doctor?  Couging up blood is always cause for concern.  It may be nothing or it could be serious.  Go and see a doctor!
