crackling and swollen tonsil

Hi for the past couple of days ive had a really annoying crackling in my ear, a bit like water in the ear or crackling paper, when i press my earlobe into my ear i can hear it and also when i swallow or yawn i can. ive read other articles where they say its the eustachian tube or something but my hearing is completely normal. one other thing that worries me is i appear to have one tonsil larger than the other, as one seems quite large while the other seems unusually nonexistant. the nonexistant one is on the same side as the crackling ear, which a few weeks ago went funny when i accidentally swallowed under water, causing asudden terrible pain and an odd taste in my mouth, but soon went away and i was completely fine until just recently.  i really hate going to the doctors and have had enough of specialists for a lifetime, so anyideas?

First is t take care of whatever is causing the illness, any slight swelling will cause the eustachean tube to close.

I do not know if you have a virus or a bacterial infection of some sort. The middle ear situation one would expect to be perscribed an antihystimine & possible an antibiotic.

I know you said you do not want to see a specialist, but you should. Prefrably an ENT that has an audiology department. This way testing can be done in order to check your middle ear status.
