daughter diagnosed with a possible permanent hearing loss to one ear

Hi, I wonder whether you could help me here. I am a worried parent, concerned that my 8 year old daughter could have a possible permanent hearing loss in her left ear. She has had this ongoing problem for more than a year. Initially, it was earwax blocking the canal, for which the GP prescribed oil. On a couple of occasions, she was prescribed antibiotics. We have seen the GP at least 5 times fro this problem and every time we've been told that this is common and is only temporary. A few months ago she had a few tests done and the audiologist said there is nothing to worry about. We have been told that according to the graphics, this was a temporary problem.New tests were made last week and we were now told that it was possible for the hearing loss to be permanent. I am going crazy here, especially when the audiologist said to come back in July for further tests. In the letter we received from the audiologist says that my daughter appears to have a 40db hearing loss in her left ear. The tests for her hearing and middle ear function in the right ear are within normal limits. The letter also says that the audiologist is not sure whether this is permanent or temporary but there is the possibility that it is permanent. What should I do? Please help
