ear, head, neck pain

I have been siffering from severe ear, head, & neck pain. No one seems to know what is cuaseing it. I have been going from Dr. to Dr. & they are all clue-less. It is not TMJ, the MRI was fine. I had a scope put down my nose & that was ok and now they put me on steroids. 15 years ago, I was diagnosed with Nasalpharangeal CA but they say this is not it. I'm worried because to me what else can it be. 1st they wanted to do another biopsy but now say I don't need one. They are putting me through emotional hell. I have a cat scan & pet scan scheduled on the 23rd. Why doesn't anyone seem to know what i'm suffering from? I can't deal w/the pain & the pain meds they put me on don't work. I have two baby girls and am struggling to take care of them. Can anybody help me? I don't understand how nobody can know anything. The docs act like i'm making this up or it can't be.

If the PET/CT rules out any concern for malignancy or infection, and if the ENT doc is unable to find any source, then seeing a Neurologist may make sense.  They have some good treatments for chronic pain.  With your history though, it's important to be sure that a recurrence has been ruled out.

Thank you so much for responding. I have been going through hell and worst of all, not being able to take care of my 1 & 3 year olds. I'm in so much pain that their voice levels are too much that I do not want to be around them- which kills me because I love them to death. I never thought I would feel this way. Is there any other doctor I should go see or specialist? Maybe a neurologist or allergist, I don't know. I want to exclude everything to finally conclude something. I am desperate. Any help anyone? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Your problem is clearly complex and this is why they are getting the PET/CT to help them look for a source.  Hopefully that test will either ease some of your anxieties or suggest a possible source of your problem that they can investigate further.  I am sorry that, so far, you have not gotten the answers you need.  Medicine is not a perfect science and there is much we still have to learn.
