ear question

Just a couple of days ago, my husband starting experience pain behind his right ear on the back of his head - it feels like a soft knot and he said it hurts to press on it.  Also at the same time, he starting experiencing a continual ringing in his right ear.  Any ideas on what this may be?  Maybe a cyst?  The ringing and pain was worse yesterday and better today.

Hi, this could be swollen lymph node due to either ear or throat infection. Ringing in ears is mainly due to middle or inner ear pathology. Ringing is the symptom of some underlying disease. Causes like wax, middle ear effusion, external ear infections, brain pathology all causes tinnitus or ringing.

To pin point the cause, an evaluation from ENT surgeon is must. A course of antibiotic like cephalosporins along with anti inflammatory drugs usually are prescribed for ear infection.

In 2004 I was in a car accident with a temporal head contusion.  I had CSF fluid coming out of my ears as a result right after.  Ever since then my ears are always wet when I get up in the mornings.  Is that still CSF fluid?  Should I be worried?
