hear pulse in my left ear

Hi everyone! I noticed when I sleep on my left side, I can hear pulse in my left ear.  It happens only during bed time and when my ear is laying on the pillow. It's really annoying and irritating!  Does anyone have the same problem??

Thanks

Actually, I do hear pulsating in both ears....I do think it could be fluid or wax buildup and also I can hear more on my left than my right ear.

This is known as pulsating, pulsatile or vascular tinnitus. Here is a list of the possible causes of pulsatile tinnitus that I found on google.

1.Middle ear effusion (fluid.) 2.Vascular tumors. 3.Chronic inflammation and/or infection of the middle ear 4.Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs.) 5.Carotid artery-cavernous sinus fistula. 6.Venous hum.

There are other, less common, causes of vascular tinnitus, but these are the "biggies." I will be seeing see an ear, nose and throat specialist for a comprehensive evaluation. This disorder can be VERY challenging to investigate.

Is your hearing correct though? I had gone to my GP previously and mentioned that I heard less from my right ear which felt quite blocked.. as compared to my left ear... and she said it was probably the wax buildup but she wudn't suggest draining the wax out cos of its risks and my age.. but I guess it could be due to fluid buildup in my right ear??
