hoarseness

ti am 20 years old . I have been suffering from hoarseness for 3 years
. altough it is not very sever but it bothers me and restrict me from
doing many things . but what surprises me is that it is not regular
.....i mean it comes and goes through the day(  after talking for
along time with friends , my voice becomes smooth just as i want it to
be ) but mostly during the day or after being  silent for some time my
voice is harsh. In the morning when i wake up my voice is not regular
.....some days it is harsh and other days it is smooth . sometimes
when i try to sing , i suffer from headache and pain along and around
my  larynx .and sometimes i feel like somthhing is stuck  in the back
of my tongue and i feel like  i want to swallow it or clear it but i
always fail to do it . I made endoscopy for my larynx and vocal cords
and doctors told me that everything was normal but they also said that
i had congested and hypertrophied arytenoids and they gave me Asid
reflux drugs and after few months i made other two endoscopies and
doctors said that everyhing was just allright . Well Asid reflux drugs
helped me a little but i still suffer from that irregular hoarseness.
i also want to mention that i have been suffering from a problem in my
nose for more than 6 years which is that one of my nasal opening gets
closed or blocked for a while and then it opens and the other opening
gets blocked and this cycle occurs all the day and i took many
medicines through all the past 5 years but they didnt help well and
finally doctors told me just to ignore it while it does not bother me
a lot.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Understand your predicament.

Since you have been investigated thoroughly any structural abnormalities would have been ruled out. Now, your symptoms of nasal stuffiness could be due to a deviated nasal septum or allergies. Allergic rhinitis can cause a post nasal drip and this could cause hoarseness of voice. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.

In the meantime for relief from your symptoms you could do warm salt gargles and take OTC antihistamines.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
