nose issues

I've been suffering from a dry nose with post nasal drip for quite sometime now. I'm almost 100% sure I suffer from acid reflux/heart burn. I'm wondering if acid reflux could be causing my nos to react this way and make me suffer like this. Also i should mention i have a scar band around my sinus from a sinus surgery that was incomplete the ents i've seen say it's minor to fix and should get fixed at some point..just wondering your thoughts as to why i'm dry and filling this way?i guess i should say the worst feeling is when i awake in the morning or after a nap as i feel real dry and then belch a few times then i start to feel a bit better as i get up and do my thing..

yes, swelled.  it can feel dry even though it's not (rather, filled with mucous)

PND doesn't often cuase a stomachache, and infrequently causes nose symptoms since you'd almost have to vomit to get the acid up into the sinuses.

have you ever dealt with anyone with Gerd,having any nose symptoms at all?also i guess the pnd would cause an upset stomach after swallowing the muscous down all the time

are you saying the sinus's are irratated?like swelled?I don't quite understand how this could lead to dryness,sorry for asking so many questions

dr Choi,i notice when i breath i can feel the air in my throat this usually on my right side and not so much on my left..any thoughts?

thanks Dr Choi for all your replies and I'll let you know how it goes after Dec 12th I'm crossing my fingers..One last important thing other than the nose bleeding what other problems do you see with one putting there fingers in there nose?

Thanks for your concern since i really like my current Ent i will probably go through surgery if accupuncture dont work because it has been over a year and i have tried a lot of things to no avail.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      canada110 - thanks for your  reply but i dont have your email anymore.

Mr Choi, My nose feels real irrated also from all these, I wonder if it's fromthe constant finger picking and touching of the inner nose..ummm it's like itchy irrated hopefully fixing my scar/recirculation will help

CAnada110, congestion can drift from one side of the sinuses to the other.

ch/gh, i'm sorry you've been suffering for a year, i'd get more second opinions from ENTs but sometimes surgery is necessary.

Well sorry to interfere i thought this forum was a group discussion- I think Enoch Choi,MD is intelligent enough to answer several questions on here and he has been i am very grateful that he is here to answer questions and to listen to us and a note to canada110 you are rude because i remember a while back you said if anyone had any concerns about turbinate surgery to email you and i did and i guess i asked you too many questions on your emails because you blew me off, so maybe you shouldnt of gave out your email if you didnt want questions! i only look at all these postings that have to do with my problem also because its been a over a year and i am not well and i am only looking for answers without having sinus surgery. sorry to interfere canada110!!!!!

also mr choi,can one side of nasal symptoms lead to another side having syptoms even if there nothing wrong on that side?and with this problem has any ever complained about lack of smell

I had my adenoids out in aug 06 and the granulation tissue cut out in oct 06 but this was cut out i believe all the way up there in the adnoid area. my turbinate is swelling at the opening down side hole of my nose   if that makes any sense   what nasal steroids are you thinking of  because rhinocort doesnt work in fact last nite i used 2 sprays and i had a very bad nite of sleeping cant breathe and tired and pressure on top of head and nose,very congested the rhinocort seems like it only lasts a few hours with me and i was on steroid pills twice but Ent doesnt want to keep me on  oral steroids.

just bleeding umm ok,i've heard other things can happen from excessive nose pickkng and touching of the tissues inside the nose..but thanks i'll let you know how it works on on the 12th

ch/gh probably had granulation tissue from the scar of previous surgery.  This is common.  Sometimes additional surgery is required.  Or other treatments like nasal steroids.
