sore throat only when blow nose

I have a condition which is entirely new to me (I am 64 years old).  When I blow my nose, with a fair degree of pressure, one side closed with finger pressure, the back of my throat and roof of my mouth BURN.  I feel no discomfort at all, if I do not blow my nose.  I have no congestion.  Is this likely a simple virus, or what?

Saline spray really helps! I keep it by the bed...

Thanks for the thoughts.  Dryness may be it.  I just have never had a situation where there was soreness only with the pressure of blowing my nose, and at no other time.

Do you ever suffer from acid reflux or indigestion? That may cause the burning. Or it could be just really dry. I know when I blow my nose sometimes there is burning because its so dry.
