throat neck discomfort

hello, I have been having a throat-neck discomfort for a long time no, probably like 4 years or so, i have come accustomed to it. I have been smoking for about 10 years now which is most likely my problem. I hate wearing t shirts because they put pressure on my neck and is very irritating as well as necklaces. when people touch my neck i hate it and it almost hurts. swallowing is mild to moderate i guess. when i sleep it is uncomfortable. its almost like nothing can touch my neck, if something does its uncomfortable. what does this sound like? please help.
thankyou in advance, phill

This is a classic symtom of an issue with your thyroid. Go see an ENT specialist. If I were to guess it is probably a thyroid nodule.

Do you get heartburn?  I know my neck/throat hurts when I have heartburn.  What about your thryoid gland or your tonsils?  Maybe you have swollen glands.  If it's not any of these, I don't know.  I'm not a doctor, but maybe you should go and get checked out.
