throat pain

My sister has been having chronic sore throats for probably a year now and said that they would start in the morning and get worse as the day goes on. She does have allergies and thought that she had discovered that is was nasal drip but when she tried medication for that it didn't help. She lives in Georgia and was just visiting Wisconsin where I live and said that she seemed to feel better the first part of her visit but then started up again later in the week. She was talking benadryl at night to help her sleep but she stopped that because she had read that this could cause the chronic sore throats. This has not seem to make them improve at all either any suggestions would be great
Thanks Dana

This sounds like maybe Tonsillitis. She may need her tonsils removed.

A sore throat for that length of time seems excessive.  Has she seen a doctor?  It could be strep throat or some type of infection.

In the meantime, I would try the throat sprays and gargle with warm salt water.
