tonsil and troat problems

Hi all!  I am 26 years old, and I have been having some problems with my throat since memorial day weekend.  It started then with a bad bout of viral tonsilitis (aka death, lol).  I was treated anyway with levaquin because i was exposed to strep, but culture came back neg.  I cleared up and everything was fine for a few weeks until I noticed one day that I still had a little swelling and one spot of pus on my left tonsil, but not really any pain.  I went back to doctor and went on another cycle of levaquin.  The swelling still remained and the spot remained too, until I took a Q tip and wiped it away myself (lol gross, but it was bothering me).  Ever since the second cycle of levaquin I have had the feeling of my throat swelling up, and a sensation of a lump whenever I swallow.  I can swallow and breath fine, it just feels like tightness, like I am being choked.  At first I was worried, then I just considered it stress because it would go away if I was busy or distracted (also i took a xanex due to the anxiety i was having becasue of it and it disappeared comepletely, so i figure stress and anxiety).  Anyways, monday night I started to feel a little sore and swollen in my throat, my ears were hurting and my glands were kinda sore.  I went to the ER and the triage nurse looked at my throat and said that my tonsils and uvula (the little punching bag) are really swollen and red, but no pus, and no fever, but i felt warm to the tough.  She kinda gave me the impression that something was really wrong.  Anyway I saw the doc a few hours later and he said tonsilitis (of course) and gave me a huge shot in my leg of penincillin (HUGE!!!)  He refered me to a ENT and said I should have them out.  Now i have been monitoring the swelling in my thraot daily just to see if its going down because i still feel that scary swelling feeling, and I noticed something that kinda alarmed me. I used a tounge depresser (i stole them at the hospital the other night, lol) and i noticed that my right tonsil looks bigger, but you can only see this of you push down on the way back of my tounge.  It looks like it goes down my thraot and i cannot see where it ends!!  I kinda looks lumpy at the bottom and i think i see a white spot kinda looks like pus, but i cant be sure.  But the right is ALOT longer than my left  My glands don't feel swollen in my neck My left tonsil ends at the back of my tounge. I am fightened by this because i do smoke and i am worried that it may be cancer.  I see the ENT in less than 3 weeks.  What should I do, how rare would it be for me to have a malignant tumor on my tonsil???
