Dizzy in loud rooms, dizzy when smell foods cooking

Hi, my mom has been sick for years and the doctors can't find out what is wrong.  I can't stand to see her like this.  A few years ago she would get dizzy out of no where and she would be able to do nothing but lay down, she would feel so sick.  Now recently, when she goes into crowded places like restaurants or today a birthday party, the noise of everyone talking makes her isntantly dizzy and then she feels intensely sick for hours.  Also recently whenever food is cooking like crab cakes were cooking today she could not stand the smell of it and had to leave the house.  She has only been eating once a day.  She has had ear tests, mri's, she just had another test the other day.  The doctor keeps sayings things like allergies or that word for dizziness that I can't think of, vertigo.  It has to be something else.   I am thinking maybe it is an ear, nose, throat problem since the smells make her sick and the noise makes her sick.  My mom leads a very active life and I just want her better.  Nobody seems to be able to help.

Thanks for anyone with any help.

If she has migraines, or a family history of migraine, that's one possibility. Migraines can cause dizziness even without headaches. Sensitivity to noise and other stimuli are typical of migraine. She should see a neuro-otologist (ENT specializing in dizziness) and/or an oto-neurologist (neurologist specializing in the ear).

Here's a good site with lots of info on dizziness:
