Ear Noises driving me crazy!

Hello,
I remember once when I was about 8 ears old or so I had some kind of ear Infection I remember it was pretty bad too.
And i think since then I'v had this weird very high pitched whistling noice in my head. Almost like a dog whistle.
I'v had it for so long that I don't really hear it anymore.. But when it's all quiet then i do hear it and it's pretty loud too.
at night when I start thinking about it, it drives me crazy. I don't think it ever stopped doing that. I just want it to stop somehow!
PLEASE.. if you know anything then tell me.

Dealing with a loud, sharp whistling in your ear can be tough.  I know because I have the same thing.  Mine occured because of a one night dealing with cocaine, weed and alchohol in Nov of 2007.  The problem didn't start until 1 1/2 weeks later when I woke up with it.  Days prior I started feeling pressure on the inside of my ears as if I was plugging up with a head cold.  Sinsuses started to swell up as well.

To this day I still have it.  I think the best route you can take is finding out and researching what caused it, what was going on when it started and then take the appropriate actions to deal with it.  Tinnitus can be caused by so many things you have to rule out what the cause of yours is so you can treat it properly.  Since you had an ear infection, something may have gotten damaged.  A couple of my favorite links on tinnitus are below.

One more thing.  You mentioned dizziness above.  You may want to get checked for meniere's disease.  This is often associated with tinnitus & dizziness.

You have the same symptoms that I do however mine has been getting worse since my last post here.  You nailed it when you describe it as a "dog whistle".  That's a better description than a "teapot" or "ringing".  I would even further describe mine as a "wet whistle".

Go to my profile and read the post about cocaine.  That's how it all started.

This past week I'm plagued with another sinus infection that started as a cold and the whistle is out of control.  I'm even on prescription sleep aids now or else I could go a week without sleep.

If you find a Doctor to help you with your problem let me know.  I'll fly to another country if I have to.  Now my Doctor is convinced that something is going on based on the ear pressure test and I have to wait a month for the referrel Doctor to see me.

Hi,
Hope you find relief from tinnitus.  I've had very, very bad tinnitus, since Jan 08, that's nearly driving me insane.  It all began after I quit Klonopin, and it never went away.

Sometimes tinnitus is so loud, it wakens me during sleep, I wake up with a super high pitched screaming !!!!!!!

What eases tinnitus for me, is being outdoors, when I leave the house, tinnitus lessens, and sometimes at night, I just sit outside on my back patio, tinnitus lessens, so I can sleep.  I sure wish the medical field finds a cure for tinnitus.  Only the one's that suffer knows how disabling the symptom is.

Good luck finding treatments for your tinnitus.
