Can't seem to shake this sore throat

About a month ago I got a little under the weather. I had a persistent cough that just wouldn't go away for about 2 weeks. Attributed to a combination of Cold/bad allergies. Then roughly a week and a half ago I developed a sore throat. I got a Z-pak and did the 5 days and that was 5 days ago. I still have the sore throat. My glands aren't swollen and neither are my lymph nodes. I'm not running a fever and there are no white spots/markings of any kind. Overall I feel fine but just can get seem to shake this sore throat. Any thoughts?

I appreciate the answer Doctor. Thank you for the response. I'm going to give it a couple more weeks If it doesn't resolve itself by then, I'll go back to my physician.

Hi, it could just be that the sore throat is taking longer to heal. Or it may not be responding to the medications given. Sometimes chronic sore throat could be due to a post nasal drip. So, wait and watch, if it does not resolve then consult your doctor. In the meantime try warm salt water gargles; it may help with your symptoms. Regards.
