Hearing loss still after ear infection is gone

I am a 43 year old female.  I have not had an ear infection since I was 8 years old.  I went to the doctor 5 weeks ago with an inner ear infection.  After two rounds of antibiotics, steroid/antibiotic drops, and a vent tube inserted (This was done by an ENT) I am told that there is no fluid in my ear and it looks good. (They even suctioned my ear twice.... the first time when they put the tube in, they said I had "glue ear" and the stuff was too think to suction out-I know, "yuck"---  the second time was when I returned two weeks later for a check up and kept insitisting there must be fluid... so to appease me they suctioned and got nothing...) I have no pain however I only have about 50% of my hearing in my ear!  It is as if I have my ear plugged.  I can not tell you how frustrated I am!
I had hodgkins lymphoma 12 years ago.  The doctor scoped my sinus and they looked ok.... Well the left side (same as my infected ear) had a deviated septum (spelling) and he could not get the scope tube to go into my sinus'.... he said I had a "spur" that was blocking it...   Could this be my problem??  My second visit at my ENT's office I was seen by the PA.  I was not real happy with this since I was still having problems.  I wanted to see the doctor...The PA told me to continue my ear drops and to come back in a month.... I am so aggravated with this hearing loss that waiting another month seems like an impossibility!  Has anyone experienced anything like this ever or have any advise for me?  I would be most appreciative for your input.
Thanks!

This must be a "thing" going around because I have the same exact problem! Got an ear infection from my daughter, antibiotics and good ear check after 1 week. Now, it's almost 4 weeks later and my ear is feeling plugged and I can't hear well. Everything is muffled. The only thing that seems to help a little is dramamine, but I get pretty drowsy on it. I'm going to see an otologist (ear dr. soon) I'll let you know if anything changes.

i am experiencing the same problems but with 95% hearing loss my ent wants to put a tube in and wait and see if the hearing willl come back. it is sad this day in age we have to face these medical challenges like we are living in the 17th century. i would ask for a mri to rule out anything especially with you having lymphoma 12yrs ago   goood luck
