How do I get rid of recurrent tonsilitis? Please help!!

Since the beginning of August I have had tonsillitis on and off.
4th August -I had an awful sore throat and white spots and was given 7 days of penicillin.
13th august - The tonsillitis returned and I was given clarithromycin! However I was in an extreme amount of pain and visited EDT. I was told I didn't have quinsy and I was sent home. I continued to take the
clarithromycin and tramadol for the pain.
23rd August The tonsillitis returned again and by the 26th August the pain was so extreme I couldn't open my mouth, move my head, talk, eat or drink.
I returned to the hospital on the 28th August and by the 29th I was diagnosed with quinsy and had the abscess in my throat drained!
I was prescribed 10 days penicillin, metronidazole and a mouthwash!

I finished the antibiotics last night and yet have looked at my throat this morning and I have more white spots on my tonsils!
I am absolutely fed up with this now can someone please help?

Hello and welcome to the forum.  You've been through a lot!  Thank you for your question but sorry you have to ask it!  For those reading, quincy isperitonsillar abscess.  https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324049  This is a painful, pus filled abscess in the back of the throat.  Is that better and you are just seeing spots or do you still have symptoms?  They do sometimes lance the abscess which it sounds like they do and often that and antibiotics will do the trick.  However, sometimes the tonsils have to be removed.  As to tonsilitis, that's a different diagnosis.  Your doctor will likely swab the white spots.  Keep in mind if you have no symptoms of a sore throat, it could be something like oral yeast infection from taking antibiotics.  I would go back to the doctor to inquire what is going on.  Also, as a tip, it helps to take a probiotic when taking antibiotics in terms of cutting down from the consequence of removing all bacteria, the bad AND the good.  Let us know what the update is.

Thank you so much for your response! Since writing this I have had on an off white spots but the tonsillitis has not returned. However my throat hasn't felt the same since, more often than not it feels very dry and I sometimes get some shooting pains. (They don't last very long) I feel a little bit run down and get very mild earache most days! Considering how I was for a month, this is absolutely nothing in comparison and doesn't seem bad enough to contact the GP! I've been using oraldene mouthwash every day hoping that this will get rid of the minor symptoms I have left, but it doesnt seem to be doing the trick yet! I do worry at times there is something else going on given I'm still not 100% but I will wait it out a little bit longer and if it continues I will contact the gp.
