I am not going to be deaf, right?

Hi, I'm 16 and I've been having trouble with hearing. I can't hear properly and the most is in the morning and evening. I have buzzing sounds in my ear like all day and I have this problem  since i'm a kid. I've been going to doctors and they did tests and I can only hear 66 db and above. they all wanted to operate and i'm scared,so what should I do? I'm running out of options here....

No, I don't have hearing aids, but I do use a portable "hand held" amplifier and "ear buds" to help me hear the TV with a volume that is reasonable for others who have good hearing my wife for example.  I also use that device at a meeting or presentation to help hear.  My hearing loss is all the high frequencies, about 8,000 hertz. That means I can hear well enough not to have a problem with moving around in public and driving a car, as examples.  I can hear a train or turck coming as well as the next guy, but the sound of "spring peepers", no I don't hear them.

Long description, I am a candidate for a professional hearing aid, but at $2,000 and more a piece I keep putting it off.

I know doctors can at times be "scary"... but I think you should discuss with your parents and move forward with their help.  For my part, I'd give very serious consideration to surgery if a doctor (better two doctors) think it could improve my hearing.

I'm an old guy and my hearing has been failing in recent years, boy do I miss hearing some of those higher frequency sounds of birds and much more.  My hearing loss can not be fixed, I can of course use a hearing aid.  Fixing is much better, trust doctors they know what and how.
