White Patches on Nasal Septum

I have had trouble with the right nostril for about three year now! It was constantly scabby and would bleed if they were dislodged, I believe the original damage was done through a scratch on my septum. I finally caved and went to the doctors and have had it cauterised. Just over a week now, however, it is still a little scabby and when I look up my nose it's full of white patches! Is this scar tissue or damage from the cauterisation? I'm terrified it's exposed cartilage and that it'll turn into a perforation!
