hi dee
i just posted a question about tonsil puss or what ever it may be. i have completed my 10day course of antibiotics (after diagnosed with pharangitis, not strep) and my throat feels better, no soreness, redness and not swollen nomore. anyway i always picked out the puss with a qtip or toothpick and then gargle with salt water and it always comes right back, sometimes not right away but it comes back. and yes i always get that deep hole, but that hole closes up in about 1 day mayb even a few hours if the puss dont come back, if my infection is gone, i too want to kno what this is?
Thanks for the response but I was wondering what you felt with the infection. See like I said I do not have any symptoms, just the hole and unfortunately I've had it for about 5 days and it still hasn't closed up. I think that I'll go to the doc just to make sure it's not any infection.
That sounds like a great plan Dee 174 . This sounds like what used to be known as Cryptic tonsils , which meant you had small holes in your tonsils. The problem with cryptic tonsils is that food gets trapped inside these crevaces & then the food rots & it can cause bad breath & also a secondary infection.

I agree, sounds like tonsil stones. I've had them at least once a month for 4 out of the past 6 months, even had 5 in one month. I went to my doctor & she tested me for strep & said there was no infection. I had to do the research on my own after spitting them out a few times, and found a good article on wikipedia that described exactly what i was going through (look under tonsil stones or tonsillolith). My doctor said the only way to make sure they dont come back is to have a tonsillectomy. Since what I found online agreed, I had it done on the 12th. Today is the 21st and it started out easy, buy has been very painful after the 1st 3 or 4 days. Almost everyone on these posts online is having about the same experience. I cant recommend whether to do it or not, but I can say that as painful as this process is, if I never have to deal with tonsil stones again, it will be worth it. Good luck in getting your information.
